IVF treatment cost in Chennai is not one number. Packages hide whether medicines, ICSI, freezing and extra scans are included. This article lists the usual cost drivers so you can ask better questions in clinic. We do not publish a headline price here, because a figure without your tests is marketing, not a plan.
What you are paying for
A typical IVF cycle bundles several steps. Knowing which of them sit inside a quote is more useful than comparing two homepage numbers:
- Consultations and baseline blood tests
- Ultrasound monitoring during stimulation
- Stimulation medicines (often the largest variable)
- Egg collection and hospital or OT charges
- Embryology, sometimes with ICSI
- Embryo transfer and the pregnancy test
Each extra step — donor gametes, embryo freezing, a second transfer, genetic testing if discussed, or a cancelled cycle — adds a line item. Natural cycle IVF uses little or no stimulation medicine, so the drug line is smaller, but it is not suitable for everyone.
Why quotes differ between centres
Medicine dose depends on your ovaries and age. Lab complexity depends on sperm and egg quality. Some centres advertise a low cycle fee and bill drugs separately. Others include drugs but exclude freezing or the first year of storage. Compare a written inclusion list, not a WhatsApp screenshot of a “package.”
PCOS treatment in Chennai can change how much stimulation is needed. Prior surgery, low reserve, or the need for donor counselling also changes the estimate. That is why two couples in the same week can hear two different figures.
What is usually not in the first quote
- Medicines if the package is “cycle only”
- ICSI, if billed only when used
- Freezing and storage after the first period
- A second transfer from frozen embryos
- Anaesthesia or hospital extras if the OT is off-site
Ask for these in writing before you pay a booking amount.
